Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she was named head of the congressional reporters. In 1992, she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. She has covered several notable news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
